10 Awesome Sites with Free Stock Photos.

We had a few run in’s with Getty Images recently, man was that’s a pain!

To explain, Getty and other companies are buying the rights to images or are running scans on images all across the internet to find infringement.  Unfortunately if you are found using the photos, they skip the cease and desist and will request payment from as little as $250 up to thousand of dollars.

We have a strict guideline now at CreativeHaus to use images from iStock or other partners.

We have found a few great sites for “Creative Commons Zero” License.  This means you can use, copy, and modify the images without having permission from the original owner.

Disclaimer: Make sure to check permissions on each site to make sure you are following the permissions they set.

    Hi,
Also check out http://www.goodfreephoto.com for thousands of unique public domain photos, especially travel photos. Appreciate it if you could add it to your site. Thanks.

    Great article Billy!

I recently started http://fancycrave.com/ as a side project a few months ago. The site consists of completely free stock photos all taken and edited by me. It’s basically a collection of images from my travels around South East Asia and South America (soon). My aim for these photos is to help designers and creative alike. People can use these images for whatever purpose they please.

I do not make any income from the website. I keep things very simple. I list the photo, its tags, the author, and the download link.

I hope you and others will find it valuable. If you see it fit, I’d be very grateful if you could add it to this list. Cheers!

Free doesn’t always means legal, unfortunately. If the author allows, I add one more service to the list – templatemonster.com . It is not free, but the price is reasonable and even cheap for the HQ photo themes are suggested. I would recommend it for webdesigners and those who want to create a unique website with quality content.
