I think image filenames can often go overlooked by developers who may be eager to get a project done, or are working to systematically get through pages without considering how individually putting these traits on images can have such a positive impact for the user.

    One of the things about image optimization that I always found to be especially intriguing is that optimized images become valuable assets to attract users via search on their own. Good, optimized images with great alt text a legible filename can rank very well in Google Image Search, and in turn, increase the amount of impressions you see for your site in Google Webmaster Tools, and clicks to your site that may even result in converting traffic!
